NOTE: For Respondus LockDown Browser to work correctly, it must sync with the examination using the Password field in the Edit Test Options area of an exam. Even if you do not want a password on the exam, this field will be populated with an encrypted password. If you DO want a password for the exam AND you want to use Respondus LockDown Browser, you will set the password in the Respondus LockDown Browser tool...NOT the Edit Test Options.
Occasionally, after setting up a course's examinations to use Respondus LockDown Browser, the browser may become out of sync. Generally, there are two reasons this occurs:
- Respondus LockDown Browser does not sync during a course transfer between semesters
- The instructor accidentally removes the syncing mechanism (the password field on the examination) (see image below)
In either case, re-syncing Respondus LockDown Browser is a simple task. Follow the steps below to re-sync the tool:
- First, check to see if Respondus LockDown Browser is synced for each test. To do this, go to Course Tools in the control panel and click on Respondus LockDown Browser. (see image below)
- If an exam uses LockDown Browser, it should either show a Green Required note or a Red Error. If any of the exams have an error, simply click the Fix It button next to the error to re-sync the exam. This will fix the password field as described at the top of the document. (see image below)
